Our Tweeds

Where there is the British countryside, there is tweed. Although the fabric has its origins in Scotland, this rich fabric has always held a prestigious position in the world of shooting and field sports. With its ability to stay warm and dry, tweed has been an essential in the sportsman and woman’s wardrobe for centuries.

From the quality of the materials to unique patterns and performance-enhancing finishings, we pride ourselves on the tweed garments we produce. The fabric itself is designed exclusively by Purdey and sourced from the finest makers such as Lovat Mill. Discover designs that honour traditional British fieldwear and utilise the latest innovations in materials to bring you a new standard of tweed fieldwear.

Morar

Morar is the latest tweed in our collection focused on strong Herringbone base. This is a lighter tweed for brighter weather highlighted by the addition of the Norfolk jacket to the range. Morar is ideal for all year round use if a lighter shade is required.

Strathbeg

The Strathbeg is a Scottish tweed with a technical edge. It features a three-layer waterproof construction exclusively developed by Purdey meaning you'll stay dry no matter how extreme the weather becomes. The addition of nylon provides increased durability and a lighter material for active days out. An ideal choice for wet, windy and cold conditions such as the Scottish Highlands or the Welsh Valleys.

Morlich

A classic Glencheck full wool tweed in keeping with the original Scottish pattern. The Morlich is your staple tweed built for all landscapes and conditions with its base of green.

Lomond

The sister to our Strathbeg tweed, Lomond is a tweed that features a three-layer waterproof construction exclusively constructed by Purdey giving you the edge against inclement weather. It's the hardwearing option perfect for wet and windy conditions, and the lighter shade gives a great variety for shooting locations.

Maree

Maree is our latest Tweed addition for sportswomen. The Maree is a traditional Scottish checked tweed combining the elements of a green base with a lighter colour base for a touch of elegance. Our addition of a belted jacket gives you an alternative option to our classic Field Coat.

Rannoch

The Rannoch is a cashmere and tweed mix creating ultimate luxury for a comfortable day in the field. It has a strong green base with a deep blue windowpane check creating a subtle yet luxurious look.

Langshaw

Every year Purdey looks to create a tweed that breaks the traditional conventions. Enter the Langshaw. Blending together a vibrant mix of orange and green Scottish cashmere and wool tweed, the Langshaw provides maximum comfort yet still excels in functionality. A great option for summer shooting.

Berkshire

The Berkshire tweed was created to celebrated thirty years of our shooting school, Purdey at The Royal Berkshire, with colours that reflect our time there. It may look like a traditional Scottish tweed in its colours but it is crafted in a fabric that is one third lighter than traditionally woven tweed resulting in more comfortable garments. Through a combination of yarn twist and the introduction of a very small amount of nylon, it is highly resilient against high levels of abrasion and friction. This is an excellent option for longer days in the field with inclement weather.
