Purdey's commitment to accessibility

To facilitate the use for people with disabilities, Purdey implements accessibility features to improve navigation for screen reader users, keyboard navigation and text-only browsers. Therefore all users can access our content without difficulty.

Features available on www.purdey.com

The main logo
On every page, a single click on the Purdey logo leads back to the home page of the www.purdey.com website.

Main menu
The main menu is a mouse-over menu which can be controlled by the mouse, the keyboard or with the fingers on a touch screen. The main menu lets you access the headings and main pages of the Purdey website.

Page footer menu
At the bottom of the page, the footer menu lets you access all headings and sub-headings of the site and additional pages such as the contact page, the Legal Notice page, the site map, etc.

Site map
On every page of the site, a site map can be accessed by a link in the page footer menu. This site map gives you an overview of the tree structure of the Purdey website and links you directly to the page or heading of your choice.

Functionalities offered by your browser
As well as the aids made available directly on www.purdey.com, the site has been designed so as to allow your browser to make the most of its own functionalities.

Increasing character size
It is not always easy to read text on the screen. A default size is defined for each text on the Purdey website, but you have the possibility of increasing the size of the characters.

Keyboard navigation
www.purdey.com has been designed to allow keyboard navigation on all pages. In most cases, the Tab key is all you need to sequence through the clickable elements in the page. If you want to work backwards through the sequence, you can use the key combination Shift + Tab. Arrow keys can be used to navigate the main navigations sub menus.

Printing
Keyboard users can print any page of the site by going to the desired page and then pressing Ctrl+P on Windows (or Cmd+P if you use Mac OS).

PDF Documents
www.purdey.com offers PDF documents for download. To view these documents you need the Adobe Reader software, which can be downloaded for free here: http://get.adobe.com/en/reader/

Videos

The www.purdey.com website offers a certain number of videos. Special effort has been made to make these videos accessible to as many people as possible.

Each video is accompanied by synchronized sub-titles. These subtitles can be freely activated or disabled with a button placed directly in the video player.

The subtitles allow deaf and hard of hearing, or people who cannot hear the sound (because of lack of speakers or a noisy environment, etc.) to access the sound information on the video all the same. In addition, they are often useful for those whose mother tongue is not English.

Conformity of the www.purdey.com website with WCAG 2.0

Throughout the stages of design, creation and updating of the Purdey website, we have taken care to comply with good accessibility practices by the W3C in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0).

Purdey continues to improve the accessibility of its digital communication platforms. Nevertheless, if you come across a problem when navigating or accessing certain content on www.purdey.com, feel free to contact us giving as much detail as possible about your situation and the problem encountered, so that we can find a solution together.
